“The two shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.”
Ephesians 5:31–32 (ESV)
Reflect Together
We are called to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ - obedience before emotion (Ephesians 5:21)
Submission means giving up preference to honor one another - the way Jesus sacrificed for the church. (Ephesians 5:2, 25)
Gospel-centered love is mutual, continual, and unconditional - not “only if” love.
Our personal walk with God fuels our ability to love and honor each other well - we can do this in our own strength.

What makes you feel most loved—words, actions, time, thoughtfulness, or something else?
When you need support, do you want me to listen, encourage, or help solve the problem?
How can I pray for you specifically this week?
What is one small sacrifice I can make that would speak love to you loudly?
Live It Out This Week
Choose one together:
Give one preference away daily (prioritize their choice first).
Speak one affirmation out loud every day.
Ask one honest question daily and listen without fixing.
Confess quickly: “I was wrong. Please forgive me.”
Pray together, even briefly, every day.
Pray It Out Loud
Jesus, we thank You for our marriage. Help us love well, forgive quickly, and put each other first. Lead our home with peace and grace every day. Give us strength to choose You and each other always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
